[INFO SESSION] MINE ACTION and THE SDGs “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.” ✨ Linking Mine Action to the SDGs: Mine action aims to: “🔹 Identify and reduce the impact and risk of explosive hazards to a level where people are safe. Land clearance, EORE, victim assistance (referred to here as survivor assistance), advocacy, and stockpile destruction comprise the core activities of the mine action sector. 🔹 Create new opportunities for access and development.
